WELCOME TO THE CITY OF SNOHOMISH’S WEB PAGES
Welcome to the official Internet web pages for the City of
Snohomish. I am glad that you’ve found our web site and you’ve taken
the time to stay a while to explore. I hope you’ll find it as
worthwhile to explore by computer as our community is to visit in
person.
Snohomish is a city rich in history and deeply committed to both the
idea and the practice of building a strong community. Some of the pages
you’ll see on this site will give you an introduction not only to this
history but to the ongoing community projects and programs that continue
to build the city that we enjoy today.
In Snohomish you’ll find a community that has committed itself to some
extraordinary projects--both privately and publicly funded. Through hard
work and planning, the visions of our citizens are turned into realities.
The Riverfront Trail project, construction of the Visitor Information
Center, and the work being done to purchase the land to complete our
section of the Centennial Trail system are some of our most recent major
projects. In 2006, we expect to begin construction on a new Senior Center
located at Second Street and Cypress Avenue.
Through our web pages you can learn more not only about new projects
but also about economic development plans and activities in our
community. You can read about how we provide services to citizens. You
can see more about our City Council’s leadership and policies as well as
which City department could provide you with needed information or
assistance. You can also meet each member of the City Council, browse the
Municipal Code, take a virtual tour of our parks, learn about job
opportunities, obtain an application for a building permit or find
information about many of our public programs.
Of course, while we offer many forms of information, services,
programs, documents and images online, there is still no substitute for
visiting in person. We welcome you to do so if you haven’t visited
already. Only then can you really begin to appreciate the community of
Snohomish. Please contact us directly if we may assist you.
Once here you can enjoy a tour of the historic downtown and browse its
interesting shops including more than 400 antique dealers that truly make
Snohomish the “antique capitol of the northwest.” Take the time to enjoy
as well the many other wonderful offerings of our small city—fine
restaurants, excellent overnight accommodations, diverse shops, historic
homes and beautiful parks.
Snohomish is a place where community pride abounds. But most of all
Snohomish is a friendly community that loves to share its gifts with
visitors. Our historic downtown, parks, trails and rivers are open to
everyone. Appreciate it all by visiting soon—and in person. I am sure
you’ll find yourself welcomed with open arms.
Best regards,
