City of Snohomish Strategic Planning Imagine Snohomish: Promoting Vitality and Preserving Character
Dear Citizens and Friends of Snohomish:
On behalf of the City Council, I welcome you to participate in our Strategic Planning website.
I, much like most of you, live in Snohomish because of the superior quality of life we enjoy in our community. Clearly, this city’s leaders over our long history have done a commendable job in creating a community that offers so much to our diverse population. However, we have the opportunity now to work together to not just guarantee our future quality of life but to deliberately mold our future through strategies that will enhance its best qualities. To accomplish this, we are creating a long-term Strategic Plan for the city. With such a plan developed and in place, I believe we will set a new leadership and planning standard among cities in our region.
The City Council and staff are reaching out to the community to not be observers of the process but to be its main contributors. A 19 member Community Advisory Committee has been established to represent the many voices from the population. This group forms the backbone of the plan development. Additionally, two Community Forums have been scheduled to gather as much public comment as possible, and we urge you to attend both of these, the first of which is scheduled for June 13 and the second for September 12.
I am proud to be a part of this critical milestone for our community. This will enable us to be good stewards of our resources and will lead our decision process for where we invest our future revenues into making Snohomish an even greater place to live, work, and play.
The Strategic Planning web pages that you’ll find here will give you more information about this project, and additional material will be available during 2006 as the process continues. A blog site is also provided here for you to register your own comments and ideas that will be reviewed by the Community Advisory Committee, the City Council and other participants. Please let us know what you think we should be planning for the future of our city.
I welcome and encourage you to be a part of this process.
Sincerely,
Randy Hamlin Mayor, City of Snohomish
