Have you ever wondered how to change what can and cannot be done with your property? Development regulations—including allowed uses, dimensional standards, and other regulations—are based on a property’s land use designation. Many factors go into the designation assigned to each area of the city, as considered by the City Council each year.
Proposed changes by the public to the Comprehensive Plan, Land Use Designation Map (rezone) and development regulations are processed on an annual cycle. The deadline to submit an application for this year’s cycle is April 2nd. Applications of proposed changes will be forwarded to the City Council for consideration to be placed on the 2018 docket. Proposed changes placed on the docket will undergo a detailed analysis by staff and will be reviewed and processed as required by City code. There will be several opportunities for community input throughout the process, including public hearings before the Planning Commission and the City Council. Proposals placed on the docket will ultimately be considered by the City Council at the end of the year for potential implementation in 2019.
