Welcome to the City of Snohomish
On behalf of the City Council and our City staff, I want to welcome you
to the City of Snohomish.
If you are a new resident, business or property owner, we would like to
acquaint you with our City services. Also on this web site, we are
providing you a list of key City services and a phone list about how you
can access them. I urge you to keep these materials handy for future
reference so that you can quickly access your City for services as you
need them in the future.
Snohomish is nearly a full-service city government. We directly provide
police, water and sewer utilities, parks, land use planning, and building
permit services. The Snohomish County Fire District No. 4 provides fire
suppression and emergency medical response and these services will not be
affected by the annexation.
We are a community that has committed itself to some extraordinary
projects--both privately and publicly funded. The dreams that envisioned
these projects have recently become, or are now becoming, realities. The
recent creation of a Skate Park at the Averill Field complex, the building
of the Snohomish branch of the Sno-Isle Regional Library System, and the
completed plans and funding for the Snohomish Youth Activities Complex
(also at Averill Field) are prime examples of this commitment. While the
City has participated in each of these projects, most of them would not
have been possible without the foresight of other agencies and the
enormous generosity of scores of private individuals. I hope that these,
and similar projects, will generate in you a pride in our community’s
achievements.
Snohomish is a city that faces many challenges to improve our streets
and utilities, parks, and other public facilities. We believe that through
measured growth—especially in growth of new businesses—we may be able to
meet those challenges. Through our City web pages you can learn more about
economic development plans and activities in our community. You can read
more about key Public Works projects that are building better services for
the community. You can see more about our City Council’s leadership
activities and the City departments that provide our local services. You
can also “meet” the City Council, browse the Municipal Code, take a
virtual tour of our parks, learn about job opportunities, obtain an
application for a building permit, access key planning and policy
documents, or find information about many of our public programs.
City Council meetings are typically scheduled on the first and third
Tuesdays of the month, though you can get more specific information about
our meeting calendar on the City’s web site.
Of course, while we offer many forms of information, services,
programs, and images online, there is still no substitute for visiting in
person. We welcome you to do so if you haven’t visited already. Our main
administrative offices are at 116 Union Avenue in the heart of the
Historic District.
Snohomish is a place where the sense of history is rich and community
pride is evident. We hope, now that you are officially a part of
Snohomish, that you will not only feel that community pride, but will also
come to fully appreciate the value of being part of our City.
